Inquiry About Double Pulse Test Setup for Cryogenic MOSFET/GaN HEMT Characterization

Dear Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently working on characterizing both a MOSFET and a GaN HEMT, with a particular focus on dynamic behavior using the double pulse test. I came across your ready-to-use board for this type of testing, which seems ideal for my needs.I would like to perform the characterization under cryogenic conditions, and I’m wondering if your setup would allow such an arrangement. Specifically, is it possible to isolate the power device (MOSFET or GaN HEMT) and place it alone in a cryogenic chamber while keeping the rest of the board outside at room temperature?

The other question is the board is specifically designed for testing SiC MOSFET, I am able to run the test for Si MOSFET and GaN HEMT transistors ? ( IRF150P220AKMA / EPC2034C)

This would greatly help with thermal management and precise measurements. Please let me know if this configuration is feasible or if you have any recommendations on how best to proceed.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Hamza Benrabah

    Hello,

I'm assuming the board you are referring to is our SpeedVal Kit, but the answers would apply to our other evaluation boards as well. Its difficult to answer the question without understanding your setup, but here are a few things to consider.

    1. The MOSFETs need to stay soldered to the board as-is. Adding extra wiring to separate the devices from the board in order to isolate them in a temperature chamber will have a dramatic impact on the switching behavior and is not recommended.
    2. The boards are designed with +15/-3V gate drive levels. If you want to use it to test other devices, you would need to consider the gate drive levels and make any modifications if necessary. We do not support devices other than the Wolfspeed parts that the board comes with.

    Thanks,

    Adam
