datasheet operating conditions

Hello, I want to test the static characteristics of CAS480M12HM3, but I have some questions about the datasheet, hope to get your help
(1) Why is the measurement condition of threshold voltage Vds=Vgs, and what is the reason and significance of such a test?

(2) Why choose Vds=20V when measuring transconductance? Why not choose 40V?

(3) How is the parasitic inductance measured in the datasheet? Can you explain the testing procedures and principles of Ciss, Crss and Coss in detail?

My question may be a little strange, but it is very important for me to measure static characteristics, looking forward to your reply, thank you!

    Hi Emma,

    1. Please refer to the JEDEC standard, JEP183, for specifications on threshold voltage measurements. For the CAS480M12HM3, the diagram shown in Figure 5 in Section 4.1 illustrates Wolfspeed's measurement method (Document Version 1.03).
    2. For the transconductance measurement, VDS = 20 V provides adequate headroom for reaching the peak current required by the module's datasheet.
    3. Parasitic Inductance - Please refer to the App Note: Measuring Stray Inductance in Power Electronics Systems
    4. For the capacitance measurements, a separate expander is necessary for the curve tracer. For this module, we utilize the Keysight N1273A Capacitance Test Fixture alongside a Keysight B1505A.

    Best Regards,

    Austin C.
