Please recommned a MOSFET for high voltage, high current, linear mode operation

I would like to help selecting a MOSFET for my application. I am building a laser diode driver configured as a high-side voltage controlled current source. The laser diode is on the high-side, a current sense resistor is on the low-side, and an op amp tries to keep the current (voltage across the sense resistor) equal to a rectangular input pulse from an SRS DG645.
Pulse width:10-microseconds
Rise and fall times: about 1-microsecond
Rep rate: once every 10 seconds, essentially no average powder
Drive voltage (0-500V)
Current pulse (0-600amps)
It would be OK to parallel a small number of MOSFETS but I don't want to put any in series so I figure I need at least a 750V device. I need a device that is in stock at the usual distributors.
A low voltage prototype is shown in the attached diagram. Now I need to scale it up to about 500V.

Hello,
Thank you for your post. Linear mode operation is not generally recommended for our MOSFETs, however, under certain conditions it may be acceptable. I will close this post and follow up with you over email to discuss the specifics for your application in more detail.
Thanks,
Adam
