XM3 inverter CAN communication problem

We are experiencing problems when trying to connect the XM3 inverter via CAN communication. Although packets are being sent from our side, the inverter does not respond to them.

Hello trang,
Thank you for your interest in this product. The most common reason for this issue is that you have successfully connected your computer to the Controller Area Network (CAN) adapter, but the CAN adapter is not actually connected with the reference design. For example, I can replicate this behavior by simply connecting a USB-to-CAN adapter to my computer without connecting it to the reference design. I recommend that you review all the communication wiring in your system to ensure you have a reliable connection. I provided a non-inclusive list of system elements to review to potentially identify the cause of this issue.
- Is the control board powered on with auxiliary +12V? The controller board needs to be powered on for successful communication.
- Is firmware loaded which includes CAN communication? The system will ship with CAN-compatible firmware by default, but some customers choose to load custom firmware
- Are you connected to the DB9 connector (J9) on the control board? This will connect to CANA on the control board (the primary CAN circuit). If you connect to CANB (through the connector J10) — which is the secondary CAN network for further expansion/customization — the default application won't work. Ensure you are connected to CANA.
- Are you are using the proper serial cable for your CAN adapter? Some cables (such as a Null Modem cable) might incorrectly swap RX/TX signals.
Thanks,
Chris N.
