XM3 in high pressure environment
Hi, do XM3 modules have any trapped air volumes inside, or are they fully encapsulated with epoxy? I'm looking into using these modules in a high pressure (300 bar) oil filled environment, which means anything compressible could be crushed.

Hello,
Thank you for your question and for reaching out on the Wolfspeed forum. The XM module is filled with dielectric gel for electrical insulation. The gel is applied under vacuum to remove any possible voids during the potting process. Although the gel is dispensed under controlled pressure to minimize trapped air, the module is not fully encapsulated with a rigid epoxy, and some internal volumes will still exist by design.
To better understand your application and provide specific guidance, could you share more details on how the module will be exposed to the 300‑bar pressure environment (e.g., direct oil immersion, pressure‑compensated enclosure, cycling vs. static pressure)?
Thank you,
Sergio J.
