Dear Sir,

Since our application involves operation in a vacuum environment, we would like to confirm the electrical feasibility of this module under actual operating conditions.

At our operating condition, the absolute pressure will be around 0.2 nbar for around 200- 400 sec. We would like to understand whether this module can reliably withstand such a vacuum environment.

Additionally, could you please clarify the following points:

  1. What material is used over the die (is it silicon gel or any other encapsulant)?
  2. Is the module hermetically sealed?

Your clarification on the above will help us evaluate suitability for our application.

    Hi Suraj,

Thank you for reaching out via the Wolfspeed forum. Below are responses to your questions:

    1. We currently do not have sufficient data to reliably support operation at 0.2 nbar for 200–400 seconds. If you can share additional details about the environment (such as temperature, bias voltages and currents, and whether the vacuum exposure is one-time or repetitive), we can assess what testing would be required.
    2. The CAB650M17HM3 power module uses silicone gel
    3. The CAB650M17HM3 power module is not hermetically sealed.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

    Sergio J.

      Response -

the vacuum exposure is one-time only for actual application but, before one/two qualification test will be performed for same.
Voltage across the module - 800 Volt
    Current - 250 Arms
Module base/ environmental temperature - 80 deg max
