Can you please tell me if the reference design, CRD600DA12E-XM3, relatively easy to disassemble for repair?

Thank you,

Chris

    Hello Chris,

Yes, the 600 kW XM3 inverter is relatively simple to disassemble and reassemble as necessary. The various printed circuit boards feature plug-and-play connections with ribbon cables running between them, so there is no soldering required for disassembly. The metal sidewalls and internal frame are assembled with common metric hex-head bolts that can be easily removed and reassembled.

If you find it necessary to remove one of the XM3 power modules from the coldplate, then proper thermal interface material (TIM) application would need to be followed during reassembly to ensure adequate thermal performance is achieved. We recommend the use of a properly designed, XM3-specific stencil to re-apply the TIM to the cleaned XM3 baseplate and then torque the module to the coldplate following the datasheet specifications. We can provide the XM3 TIM stencil design if required; please email Stephanie V. at Stephanie.Vinueza@wolfspeed.com if you'd like to request the stencil design.

    Thank you,

    Austin C.
