Undervoltage protection and minimum load for 300kW XM3 Three-Phase Inverter CRD300DA12E-XM3
Dear Wolfspeed Experts,
I bought this inverter 300kW Three-Phase Inverter with XM3 Power Module | Wolfspeed for an internal development in our company; on this datasheet CPWR-AN30 (wolfspeed.com) it is mentioned that there is an undervoltage protection and a di/dt protection, but it is not specified the amount of voltage to set on the power supply.
Moreover, I would like to ask you the minimum load to apply at the inverter to not damage the module.
Could you help me please?
Thank you very much,
Enrico

Hello Enrico,
For undervoltage protection (UVLO) on the gate drivers, please reference the CGD12HBXMP gate driver datasheet.
Information about the voltage levels and hysteresis is in the Electrical Characterization section, and additional information is in the Signal Descriptions and Truth Table. The controller reports these as a fault.
For over-current protection, similar information is also provided in the CGD12HBXMP gate driver datasheet.
The calculation is shown in the Over-Current Trip Level section.
If you are attempting to adjust transition speed during switching events (and/or limit voltage overshoot), the external gate resistors on the gate drivers may be replaced with 2512 SMD resistors, shown in the Gate Driver Interface section.
These are initially populated with 1Ω for turn-on and turn-off.
The gate driver schematic, including protection circuitry, can be obtained by downloading the design files for the gate driver.
We have not performed testing to determine minimum load requirements.
Care must be taken to ensure that no ratings (electrical, junction temperature, etc) are violated for the modules, as potential damage could occur.
Thanks,
