Hi SRU, thank you for posting. Wolfspeed has a broad portfolio of Wide Bandgap products for various applications, including both GaN and SiC. Our GaN portfolio is positioned towards RF applications while for power applications, we believe that SiC is the better choice. Some important features that SiC offers are summarized below :
- Suited for voltages above 600V
- Best FOM, Good intrinsic body diode
- Low Rdson vs Temp (1.4x) vs (2.6x) for GaN
- Thermal Conductivity (3x) vs GaN
- High Ampacity, fast switching, rugged
- 7 Trillion+ field hours proven (~20 Million for GaN)
There is a more detailed presentation on this at this Link as well
If SiC is the right solution for you , we have several reference designs that we can point you to and collaborate on finding you the right solution. Would you be able to share some preliminary information about your target system like the input and output voltages ?
