Questions regarding the PLECS model

Hi,

I recently downloaded the PLECS model of C3M0032120K and C3M0045065K for simulation and noticed that some data are given under the temperature of 900°C in the lookup table used to calculate loss. I would like to know the use of these data during loss calculation and how they are tested, because it is my understanding that SiC MOSFETs do not operate in a temperature that high.

Thanks

    Hi,

The purpose of the data is to provide an upper bound on the extrapolation method used in PLECS. The parts aren't rated to operate beyond the values specified in the datasheet as you pointed out. These 900C data points aide in the simulation but shouldn't be used to make design decisions and do not fundamentally impact the behavior of the simulation across the rated operating space.

    Thanks,

    Zack
