Question Regarding KIT-CRD-CIL12N-FMC Sic Eval Board
Hello,
I want to ask some technical information regarding SiC Six Pack Module Evaluation Board KIT-CRD-CIL12N-FMC.
- What is maximum power rating of this Evaluation Board?
- Is there a compatible gate driver for this Evaluation Board that can operate at switching frequency of 100kHz.
- Is there any voltage and current measurement sensors for this and how it can used for measurement purpose. Thanks

Hello Hassan,
1) The CIL EVAL kits are meant to evaluate the switching performance (double pulse testing) of our module products and are not designed for continuous converter operation.
2) Selection of switching frequency depends on gate drive power supply, gate voltage swing and gate charge. This calculation is shown here on page 11 https://assets.wolfspeed.com/uploads/2021/05/cpwr_an46_cgd1700hb2m_una_application_note.pdf
From CCB032M12FM3 datasheet, Qg = 118nC, Delta V_PS = 19V (15 - (-4)).
At 100kHz switching frequency, the maximum gate drive power requirement (W) is far less than the gate drive power supply rating available on the gate drive board. This example calculation was shown for https://www.wolfspeed.com/products/power/gate-driver-boards/cgd1700hb2m-una/ but is also applicable to the other two partner gate drivers mentioned here.
3) A Current Viewing resistor is included on the CIL board for accurate current measurements. The Vds measurement is made with a high bandwidth high Voltage differential probe. More details on the two can be read in section 4 here.
Thank you,
Arun
