Short Circuit Protection WAS175M12BM3

Hello,

we are currently designing a three phase inverter with WAS175M12BM3. For short circuit protection we want to use DESAT protection circuit. Is there any design recommendation for blanking time?

Thank you

Please take a look at the reference design files: CGD1700HB2P-BM3 and CGD1200HB2P-BM3. Adjusting the blanking can be achieved by changing the blanking capacitor value.

Some other notes to consider are:

    1. Minimizing blanking time (tBlank) and soft shutdown resistance (RSS) will result in significant improvement in short circuit survivability.
    2. Focus should be placed on balancing the tradeoff between additional tBlank to prevent false trips and decreasing tBlank to reduce short circuit current peak and short circuit energy.
    3. Selecting a gate driver chip that allows tuneability of both tBlank and RSS is recommended to achieve the highest level of protection.

    Thanks,
