Use of CRD300DA12E-XM3 in a vertical orientation

Hi Wolfspeed Expert,

My customer is considering whether it is possible to use CRD300DA12E-XM3 in a vertical orientation due to their experimental environment. In other words, CRD300 will be placed in the orientation where coolant ports are facing up or down.

Is it possible to operate CRD300 in a vertical orientation? If not, is there any specific reason why it cannot be placed vertically?

They are particularly concerned about the possibility that coolant may not be able to flow in the middle if it is placed vertically.

If they can use it vertically, they plan to use jig to float it during placement.

They would like to place the coolant ports facing down, but if it cannot be used facing down, but can be used facing up or lateral, they would like to consider as well.

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

Hiroshi

    Hi Hiroshi,

The coolant loop should be a closed system, without air, so the orientation of the cold plate does not matter. Your customer can proceed as they see fit.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan
