Use of GD3160 XM3 Half-Bridge Eval Board on CRD600 inverter

Hi Wolfspeed Experts,

My customer is interested in purchasing NXP board (FRDMGD3160XM3EVM) and using it in a CRD600 to fine tune short circuit protection.

Is it possible to replace the built-in GDIC boards (CGD12HBXMP) in the CRD600 with NXP boards?

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

Hiroshi

    Hi Hiroshi,

A much simpler approach would be to utilize the KIT-CRD-CIL12N-XM3 to tune short circuit protection for the XM module with NXP's GD3160 gate driver board. It may be possible in the CRD600 kit, but it will likely be difficult to implement and an external current probe would need to be added to view the short circuit current. The XM3 dynamic eval board can be used to perform short circuit testing and includes a current-viewing resistor to measure short circuit current simply and accurately.

    Best Regards,

    Austin C.
