Hi,

We are designing 400KHz Inverter for resonance application and for that we selected C3M0016120K SiC MOSFET. Can someone suggest the SiC MOSFET Driver IC which can drive this MOSFET with 400KHz of switching frequency?

Regards,

Nandish Jasani.

    Hello,

The attached document shows how to calculate the expected gate power required based on the selected MOSFET and switching frequency. For this device at 400kHz, the total gate power requirement will be approximately 1.52W. This power will be distributed between the internal Rg of the MOSFET (2.6ohms), the external gate resistor, and the equivalent resistance in the gate driver. You will need to select a driver that can accommodate the level of power dissipation based on the equation in the attached document. The document also includes a list of gate drivers that we have experience working with and the relevant designs that they are used on. Based on the relatively high frequency of your application and the large MOSFET you are driving, you will likely need to select a gate driver with low internal drive resistance (typically marketed as high drive current capability). The UCC5350MC or ADuM4121 would be a good option if short-circuit protection is not required. If you want more features like short-circuit protection, UCC21710 or ADuM4146 would be potential options.
