Speedval kit optimum PWM frequency

We have the speedvalkit platform with following configs

  1. MOD-PWR-MM-C3M0032120K
  2. 400uH Buck / Boost filter board

We plan to test a buck converter config from 800V to 400V DC. What is the desired PWM frequency the 400uH inductor has been optimized for peak efficiency . Our load is 12A current.

    Hello mavern1,

The SpeedVal kit buck/boost boards are designed for general purpose evaluation. They were not optimized for a particular operating point or tested to identify the peak efficiency as a function of frequency. To find the frequency for peak efficiency, you will have to take some frequency vs efficiency measurements. Recommended frequency range is 20 to 100 kHz. I recommend referring to the synchronous "boost" application example in the SpeedVal Kit Half-Bridge Motherboard User Guide. 66 kHz is used for testing in that example. A few other guidelines on synchronous buck configuration are highlighted in Section 8.3 of the user guide.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Urvi
