Hello, in the CAB016M12FM3 there is a circular opening/orifice in the bottom side of the package (same side as the pins). I tried to understand the purpose of that in the datasheets and application notes and found no reference about it.

Does that orifice serves any purpose? Should we leave a corresponding orifice in the PCB in which it's assembled?

    rod_duarte,

The opening you are referring to is used during manufacturing as an insertion point for the dielectric gel, so you would not need to include a corresponding hole in your PCB. You may find our WolfPACK reference designs useful for guiding your future layout and PCB bussing design. As always, please let us know if you have further questions.

    Best,

    Calvin
