CRD25DA12N-FMC as bi-directional AFE stage for off-board EV charger
Hello,
Can we use CRD25DA12N-FMC for designing bi-directional AFE stage (AC-DC) for building off-board EV charger applications. What changes are required on existing design. Does controller firmware support bi-directional stage.

Hello,
By adding CRD25DA12N-FMC-AFE for Grid interface at the input for 3 Phase,
Can we use CRD25DA12N-FMC for designing off-board EV charger from 25KW to 350KW.
Does CRD25DA12N-FMC controller firmware support bi-directional stage.
What additional changes are required on existing design.
Appreciate your suggestions on this.

Sanath,
The hardware in the CRD25DA12N-FMC-AFE active front end (AFE) can support bi-directional operation. This design builds upon the CRD25DA12N-FMC three-phase inverter by adding an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter, safety/pre-charge relays, and boost inductors so that the design can be attached to a three-phase input. The CRD25DA12N-FMC-AFE design demonstrates what components need to get added to the CRD25DA12N-FMC inverter to support bi-directional operation, and it demonstrates guidelines for performing the circuit board layout with these components.
The AFE design can be paired with a DC/DC stage such as a dual active bridge (DAB) converter to create a modular building block to achieve high power levels. Please note that the AFE outputs were not designed to be directly paralleled. Instead the AFE output should be attached to the input of a DC/DC stage. This overall AFE and DC/DC converter block can then be paralleled. The released CRD25DA12N-FMC firmware does not support bi-directional operation, and we currently do not have a timeline for releasing an updated firmware.
Thanks,
