Questions regarding evaluation board 25kW inverter CRD25DA12N-FMC
Hi, all
I am interested in purchasing the 25kW inverter evaluation board CRD25DA12N-FMC. At first glance, it appears to be fully assembled and requires only a 12V external power supply. The control board also seems to be included.
Since the inverter is designed for three-phase operation, I would like to know how to safely operate it as a single-phase full bridge. Specifically, I only need two of the three phases, such as U and V. To ensure safety, the unused phase (W) would ideally require a hardware short between the gate and source of its gate driver. Would it be possible to implement this modification on the evaluation board?
Additionally, I would like to inquire about the software. Is any demo code or step-by-step guidance provided with the evaluation board?
Thank you

Hello wybcityu,
Thank you for your interest in this product. You are correct that the control board is included with the design. You can watch the unboxing video here to see the exact contents of the box.
Each switch position already includes a dedicated gate driver which can negatively bias the gates when turned off. To achieve your target functionality, you could simply update the firmware to never command the gate signals of the unused phase to turn on. This would maintain a negative bias on the gates, without requiring any hardware changes. Please note that the maximum output power of this evaluation board needs to be de-rated to account for the reduction in output phases when operated in full-bridge mode. Additionally, this design has never been tested as only a full-bridge.
The unit ships with basic open-loop sine pulse-width modulation (PWM) firmware. This firmware can be downloaded from the design's landing page using the "Download Firmware and GUI" link. The firmware can be edited in Code Composer Studio to support your needs.
Thanks,
