    Hello,

I have attached the PLECS thermal description (.XML) file for the CAB3R5M12DM4. Additionally, you can download our PLECS and LTspice models directly from our website:

    Thank you!

Thanks, I've been having problems using this with PLECS 4.7.5. PLECS doesn't recognise it in the library. Is this a known & intended issue?

    Hello Mikesim,

Thank you for the question! The model shared is designed to be compatible with PLECS version 4.8 and above, as these versions support 4D-LUTs for switching loss, providing enhanced accuracy. Unfortunately, this compatibility issue is known when using PLECS 4.7.5.

It would be helpful to know why updating to the newer version of PLECS is not possible, as doing so could greatly improve the experience with the model and its functionalities.

If there are any further questions or assistance needed, please feel free to reach out!

    Thank you

    Ok thanks,

(probably best not post this message on the forum I guess)

I'll update to the new version as soon as there's budget available. I need to do this as I know Jost Allmeling and Wolfgang from years ago and it's embarassing not having an up to date licence ;)

In the mean time, if you do have a few mins to see if it's possible to output a backwards compatible model that would be helpful. If not, maybe you could raise a ticket to ask the relevent people to make it more obvious which plecs versions the models work with that would help people save a lot of time.

If you need to add weight to the argment, mention that I've just got out of a meeting with Ian & Juan from Woolspeed about collaboration etc.

    Cheers
    Michael

    Hey Michael,

I've created a version of the model with a 3D switching loss table and confirmed it works in v4.7.5.

If you are using Rg = 0/0Ω, this model will be identical to the one shared previously, though it will be slightly less accurate for other Rg values.

I've also included a "MOSFET with Diode" version of the model which includes the diode losses in the same model as the MOSFET (though you can also use the legacy models if you'd like to compare more easily to a different Wolfspeed model). We'll soon be launching a new version of our library with all our parts in this combined format. In the meantime, if you have a specific device you need in this format, let me know and I can provide it.

    Thanks,
    Blake
