SpeedVal Kit 3phase-board:SCP triggered when switching on upper device
Dear all,
I’m currently using the following products for my research project:
MOD-MB-3P-0900V-40A-N
EVAL-ADUM4146WHB1Z
MOD-PWR-MM-C3M0032120K
I didn’t use the control card — instead, I generate the PWM signals externally.
In my setup, I only need to produce a single voltage pulse. However, I’ve observed something strange:
—When I use the upper device evaluation configuration and switch on the upper device, the gate driver’s red LED turns on, indicating an SCP (short-circuit protection) event.
—When I use the lower device evaluation configuration and switch on the lower device, no SCP error occurs.
I would like to understand why SCP is triggered only when switching the upper device. Could this be related to the measurement configuration, gate driver reference, or bootstrap/isolated supply setup?
Any suggestions or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Greetings HansJ:
Do you have the desat/SCP cables connected? If they are not connected, and you don't have the SCP disable jumpers on the 4146 board, that could be the problem. I put an image up showing the SCP cables installed. The gate driver shown is not the 4146 but you would make the connections on the 4146 in a similar fashion. I also attached an image of the 4146 with the SCP disable pin headers circled. Placing a jumper here will disable the SCP feature and you would not need to connect the desat/SCP cable.
