For the gate drive board CGD1700HB3p-HM3, it has max 85C operating ambient temperature. what is the limit factor for it? Can it be modified to operated at max 105C operating ambient temperature? Thank for help

    Hello,

The MGJ3T12150505MC-R7 power supply is the first limit to 85 °C, at full load it rises 18 °C above ambient leading to a max operating temp of 103 °C two degrees below its rating.

Forced cooling of the gate driver may help with the ambient temperature limitation. At this time we do not have plans to increase the temperature rating of this particular design.

    Thanks,

    Paul Kanatzar

    Hi Paul,

Thank for your reply. Can we replace MGJ3T12150505MC-R7 power supply with higher temperature power supply by ourselves? Would it be allowed for us to modify your CGD1700HB3P-HM3 ALL Design Files and make new gate drive board to meet our requirements?

    Thanks,

    Jim Wei

    Jim,

You can absolutely modify the design files to meet your needs! That's actually one of our primary goals in providing designs publicly. Feel free to check out our other 1.7 kV reference designs as well for ideas and parts that may suit your needs (CGD1700HB2M-UNA, CGD1700HB2P-BM3, and CGD1700HB2P-XM3).
