NTC measurement on the CAB450M12XM3
We plan on using the NTC temperature measurement on the CAB450M12XM3 for thermal monitoring and derating in our application.
Is there a way to relate the NTC temperature to the die or the case temperature? We have done some load profile simulations using the LTspice FET and thermal models. We have also run some simulations using the available Cauer network parameters, but are not sure how we can connect these results to the actual temperature measurement from the NTC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Naman,
The NTC provides a measurement of the module temperature at its physical location, but there is no direct correlation factor that can be used to translate it to junction temperature. The LTspice models and Cauer network simulations are pretty accurate to determine junction temperature as they are based on experimental data.
However, we do recommend performing a thermal characterization using a thermal transient tester to establish a correlation between the measured NTC temperature and the junction and/or case temperature, and to understand the thermal behavior of your specific system.
I hope that is helpful. Do reach out if you have further questions.Best regards,
